Richards is in a hospital when this novel opens up, just where the last one left off. The main goal of Part 2 is to defend Richards against those who would jeopardize their achievements in the nuclear power sector. For the benefit of the world, Dr. Richard Benjamin needs to accept who he is now and let go of his past. While UNA will stop at nothing to save Richards and keep the world from devolving into a nuclear wasteland, GIATCOM has hidden agendas for Richards.
Overall, Part 2 picks up shortly after the events in the previous volume. There are many twists, turns, and backstory reveals. All those are interlaced with philosophical ideas about corporate structure, leadership, and many others. Included in the text are discussions on science, science fiction, time travel, history, art, and religion. It always amazes me how Mark gets all of this into a single volume, yet writing so it makes sense.
A great sequel from Mark Dowson to his first instalment of ReCO2gnition. Building on the enigmatic characters of the launch volume of ReCO2gnition the author maintains his pursuit of exploring big contemporary challenges to the human condition against the intriguing backdrop of futuristic science fiction. This time it is the pandemic. Another intriguing and enjoyable read.
